About

BLOCK ISLAND YOGA RETREAT

Join Twisted Sister Yoga on magical Block Island!  Various yoga styles, spiritual transformation and adventure is yours during the most beautiful time of year, catching the last days of summer in Rhode Island.  Block Island is a stunning island 13 miles off the coast of Rhode Island, easily accessible by ferry or flight. A leader in conservation, it is chock full of nature and breathtaking scenery at every turn. Visitors can venture out on a gorgeous hike or bike ride (bring your own or rent a bike or moped on island), bask in sun and stillness on one of the many pristine beaches, or peruse the downtown shops and eateries. Taxis are also readily available if you would like to explore the island’s further reaches. The mellow pace and warm hospitality of Block Island will embrace you the moment you arrive, and you will feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland.

DETAILS

We are partnering with 1661 Inn Bed & Breakfast for accommodations.  Home to an exotic animal farm. Although this peaceful sea and country setting is only a few minutes walk from the village and beaches, the quiet and privacy of the Inn is reminiscent of the Block Island years gone by.  The Dodge Cottage will serve as our sacred gathering space for yoga.  In case of poor weather, we will seek sanctuary within a local church hall.  Come early on the day of your arrival, and linger late on the day of your departure. Guest rooms typically welcome you by 2pm, and check out 11am.  Your luggage will be stowed for you.

REVIEWS

Just came back from Cheryl’s Twisted Sister Yoga Block Island Retreat Autumn 2023. We had glorious porch yoga, fabulous food and the chance to get to know or deepen relationships with some wonderful people. Throughout the retreat, you could feel all the energy and intention that Cheryl took to plan a great meditative yoga escape. Cheryl is a patient and inspiring teacher. ~ Janet L

Yoga

Your morning yoga classes will be mostly vinyasa flow yoga for all levels, linking movement with the breath for an energizing yet relaxing flow. With creative and balanced sequences, strengthening and lengthening, detoxing and breath work, you will experience a strong, safe and supportive practice. Modifications and options will be provided for different abilities. You'll have the opportunity to play with some backbends, arm balances, and inversions if you choose, and cool down with some deep stretches to restore the body and mind. The evening classes will be restorative yoga, with longer held seated and supine postures, stretching, lengthening, releasing tension and creating more space in deeper layers of connective tissues in the body.

FERRY
September is still a popular time to travel to Block Island, so it’s best to book your spot ahead of time. We suggest the traditional or high-speed ferry from Point Judith. You can find all general info, including additional fees to bring a bicycle or a car (which is NOT required).

Notes: 1) Cars are allowed only on the traditional, not high-speed, ferry. 2) Be sure to arrive on the island in time to check in at the Farm House, settle into your room, maybe grab a bite to eat before sunset yoga.
