Yoga & Health

Can yoga reduce stress?

Yes. Yoga combines movement, breathing, and mindfulness to calm the nervous system. At Twisted Sister Yoga, biblical meditation and prayer add another layer of peace by helping you focus on God's promises.

Can yoga improve sleep?

Many students report sleeping better after practicing yoga consistently. Gentle stretching, breathing exercises, and stress reduction can help prepare both your body and mind for restful sleep.

Is yoga good for menopause?

Yes. Yoga may help reduce stress, improve sleep, increase flexibility, maintain muscle strength, and support emotional well-being during menopause.

Can yoga help anxiety?

Yoga encourages slow breathing and mindful movement, which may help reduce feelings of anxiety. Our Christian yoga classes also invite you to rest in God's peace through prayer and Scripture.

Can yoga improve flexibility?

Absolutely. Flexibility develops gradually through consistent practice. Every body is different, and progress comes with patience—not perfection.

Can yoga reduce back pain?

Many people experience relief from back discomfort through improved posture, flexibility, and core strength. If you have chronic or severe pain, consult your healthcare provider before beginning any exercise program.

Is yoga good for pickleball players?

Definitely. Yoga improves flexibility, balance, mobility, core strength, and recovery, making it an excellent complement to pickleball while helping reduce the risk of injury.

Can yoga improve posture?

Yes. Yoga strengthens the muscles that support healthy alignment while increasing awareness of everyday posture and movement patterns.

How often should I practice?

Even one or two classes each week can make a noticeable difference. Practicing three to five times weekly often leads to greater improvements in strength, flexibility, balance, and overall well-being.

How long before I notice results?

Many people feel more relaxed after their very first class. Physical improvements often become noticeable within a few weeks of consistent practice, while lasting lifestyle changes develop over time.

Getting Started

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Bare feet work best for yoga, and layers are helpful for cooler mornings at the beach.

What if I'm not flexible?

You don't need to be flexible to begin yoga. In fact, improving flexibility is one of the benefits of practicing regularly.

What should I expect at my first class?

You'll be warmly welcomed, introduced to the class, guided through each movement, and encouraged to work at your own pace. Our Christian yoga classes include Scripture, prayer, movement, breathing, and relaxation.

Do I need my own mat?

Bringing your own yoga mat is recommended. For beach classes, you may also want a large towel underneath your mat for added comfort.

Should I eat before class?

A light snack one to two hours before class is usually best. Staying hydrated before and after class is also important.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely! Yoga is even more enjoyable when shared with friends and family. Everyone is welcome.

What if I have injuries?

Please let me know before class. I'll offer modifications to help you practice safely within your comfort level.

Which class should I start with?

Beginners often enjoy our Beach Yoga, Gentle Yoga, or Chair Yoga classes. If you're unsure, contact me and I'll help you find the perfect fit.
